In December of 2018 I hosted a special three-part presentation all about cancer risk, prevention and support services. Our three guest speakers were all equally fabulous, and it truly was an evening to remember. F. Ames Smith Jr, MD FACS presented “(Breast) Cancer Screening & Prevention,” which also included a detailed overview of genetic testing. Mary Ellen Shands, RN MN discussed “Living with a Cancer Diagnosis: What Does Support Look Like?” and her talk embraced the concepts of inclusion vs isolation, as well as choice and control. Joseph Yurgevich, Executive Director of Cancer Lifeline, highlighted the myriad of free services and support that Cancer Lifeline has to offer to all who are touched by cancer.
