MenoBits #2: Managing Stress During Menopause

Susan Baumgaertel · November 26, 2023

This is the second in a weekly series of helpful tips pulled from the Appetizer sections of each chapter in The Menopause Menu book.

Time to let it all out!

It’s okay to feel like menopause sucks!

Not everyone goes through this transition gracefully. But know this truth: There are soooooo many tips and tricks to help things settle down, even if just a little bit.

You got this!

Many women feel vulnerable when they are going through perimenopause due to hormone fluctuations that can impact mood, energy, concentration, patience, and more.

Work performance may suffer due to fatigue or brain fog. Dealing with kids or aging parents can feel overwhelming due to increased irritability or sleep disruption. Intimate relationships may be more vulnerable due to a change in body image or libido.

It can be difficult to feel in control.

Go back to the fundamentals: sleep, movement, nutrition, social connection.

🌸 Find time in each day to focus on self.

🌸 Connect with others who are supportive and nurturing.

🌸 Nourish your mind as well as your body.

🌸 Feed your curiosity, your creative spirit, your fun vibe.

🌸 Embrace all emotions as necessary and welcome, but concentrate on the ones that support you the most.

🌸 Learn about your changing body and changing mind.

Embrace these changes. Things that cause stress will still be there, but your internal and external response to them can change, with intention.

Learn to prioritize. Learn to say no. Learn to breathe.

Wisdom + kindness + self-focus = menopausal stress reduction.
