I love to eat for pleasure, not just because it is good for me. That being said, much of what I prefer is actually quite nutritious. I tend to stay away from using the word “healthy” because it is overused and, frankly, a word that has been ruined by the food industry.
Sometimes you just crave fast food. What’s great is when you find substitutes that are more in-line with your nutrition preferences of the moment.
Enter the burger & fries – definitely not “healthy” by any definition or stretch of the imagination. Here is a recent version from Chez Glenn that definitely hit the taste & satisfaction target.
Ingredients:
- Impossible™ Burger 1/4 pound patty – no meat! (water, soy protein concentrate, coconut oil, sunflower oil, natural flavors; 2% or less of: potato protein, methylcellulose, yeast extract, cultured dextrose, food starch modified, soy leghemoglobin, salt, mixed tocopherols, soy protein isolate) – cook on grill or use grill pan
- Macrina Bakery ciabatta bun
- Cascadian Farm Organic Spud Puppies, frozen (organic potatoes, organic soybean oil, salt, apple juice concentrate, citric acid) – bake in oven or toaster oven
- Baby spinach leaves, handful
- Tomato, sliced
- Grainy mustard, ketchup, mayo or whatever condiments you enjoy
