Snacking, noshing, grazing –– whatever you like to call it –– should be tasty and pleasurable. Period. Yes, you can always make a quick assessment about protein content, fresh fruit & veggies, low sodium, unrefined products…but snacking should be enjoyable and regret-free.
Most often it constitutes what is currently in my fridge and/or garden, and what do I feel like eating at this very moment. For those who know a bit about the principles of “intuitive eating,” you get it.
This snack plate from sometime last year had a few generous chunks of Brie cheese on crusty bread, a hard-boiled egg sprinkled with coarse salt and fresh ground black pepper, a small handful of red cherry tomatoes from the garden, and some cut-up pieces of cantaloupe.
Just what I wanted (needed) at that moment, and so very satisfying!
